The Orange Cap is a cricket award presented to the leading run scorer in the IPL Twenty20 format. It was introduced in Indian Premier League on 25th April 2008. The batsman with most runs in the game during the path of the season would put on the Orange Cap while fielding, with the overall leading run-scorer at the end of the tournament winning the actual Orange Cap award on the day of the season’s final. The purpose of this idea is to be innovative, create another exclusive part of history that sets the Indian Premier League apart from the crowd, and to reward outstanding achievements by the players.
